How to delete your account

The fastest way:

  1. Sign in to SundaySync.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Scroll to the Danger Zone.
  4. Tap Delete my account, confirm your password, and type DELETE to confirm.

If you can’t access your account, email [email protected] from the address on file and we’ll help.

What happens when you delete

  • Your login is removed immediately. You won’t be able to sign in again with the same email.
  • Active sessions on every device are revoked. Any open SundaySync tab will be signed out.
  • Push-notification subscriptions are deleted so no more notifications reach your phone or browser.
  • Your personal profile fields (name, email, password, avatar, ministry, preferences) are deleted from our active systems.
  • Direct messages you sent may be retained in the recipient’s inbox, but your account will no longer be associated with them.
  • Audit logs may keep a reference to your old user ID for security and compliance purposes, but no longer with your personal details attached.

What about workspace history?

SundaySync workspaces belong to the church, not to individual volunteers. So some workspace history may remain even after your personal account is deleted, including:

  • Past schedules and assignments — with your display name replaced by “Deleted user”.
  • Group-chat messages you contributed to public ministry channels.
  • Files you uploaded into shared workspace folders.

This is how churches keep their service-planning records intact (“who served on Easter 2024”) even when team members come and go. If you need specific items removed for personal reasons, contact [email protected] and we’ll review.

If you’re a workspace owner

If you’re the sole owner of a workspace, you need to transfer ownership to another admin before you can delete your account. This keeps the church’s account, billing, and history accessible to the rest of the team.

To transfer ownership: Settings → Workspace → Transfer ownership. Or email [email protected] if you’re stuck.

Super-admin accounts

The platform’s super-admin account cannot be self-deleted through the app for safety reasons. Contact [email protected] if a super-admin needs to be removed.

Timeline

  • Right away: login disabled, sessions revoked, push subscriptions removed, personal profile anonymized.
  • Within ~30 days: routine backups age out and the underlying records are purged.
  • Longer (rare): billing or legal-compliance records may be retained for the period required by law.

Can I undo it?

Once your account has been deleted you can’t recover it. You’re welcome to sign up again with the same email — it just won’t be linked to the old account or its data.
